About Me

Hi there! I grew up in San Diego, California. I moved to Northern California at the age of eighteen and have been living in Humboldt County for 18+ years. I have been to almost all 58 counties in California, and caught some frogs in probably half of them. My travels have also taken me to other parts of the U.S., South America, and Europe. I have even been to the Galápagos.

I earned my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Wildlife Management with an emphasis in Wildlife Disease Ecology and also have a background in Studio Art. I have dabbled in many sports and hobbies such as fencing, archery, roller derby, snorkeling, boogie boarding, print making, sewing, animal husbandry, etc.

I wear plain cotton t-shirts (black and white) and denim jeans most days of the week. I have four different planners, five if you include an app on my phone where I track horse training. I’ve been described as “too much”. When I am not working I can probably be found at the barn. When I am not working or at the barn I might be writing, probably something about horses.

Growing up I had many reasons to feel like an outsider looking in. I hope that my experiences and observations help children navigate their own way through life. I also write creative nonfiction short pieces. With those I hope to provide a chuckle, maybe a bit of a scare, and wisdom through my learning of lessons the hard way.

Also displayed are a few collectible toys such as Breyer horse figurines in action, Gumby and Pokey, and a tiny micro machine hotrod car.
